Background & Purpose

During the autumn general submission period, members of parliament submitted around 90 different proposals regarding excise duties and customs policies. These suggestions aimed to change taxes on electricity, fuel, vehicles, and other goods.

Proposals & Debate

The proposals covered a wide range of areas including environmental taxes, alcohol and tobacco duties, aviation fees, and the operational powers of Swedish customs. Opposition parties argued for various adjustments, while the tax committee recommended that parliament reject all of them due to ongoing work in these areas.

The Decision

The Swedish parliament followed the committee's recommendation and voted to reject all 90 proposals from the opposition.
