Background & Purpose

During the autumn general proposal period, politicians submit numerous suggestions on how to improve laws and regulations. Parliament must vote on all these individual proposals to decide whether to turn them into active assignments for the government.

Proposals & Debate

The proposals covered a wide range of topics including visible taxes and fees, F-tax rules, tax controls, population registration, protected personal data, and customs authority powers. The opposition parties wanted to change current rules, while the parliamentary committee recommended rejecting them because ongoing work is already addressing many of these areas.

The Decision

Parliament voted to reject all the submitted proposals, meaning no new legislative changes or investigations will be initiated based on these specific motions.

Does this affect you?

  • Entrepreneurs and business owners: No changes are made to F-tax rules or tax control procedures, keeping current administrative requirements in place.
  • Individuals with protected personal data: Existing security routines in population registration remain active without any newly proposed legal adjustments.
  • Importers and trade companies: Customs duties, import taxes, and Tullverket's powers remain exactly as they are today.

In Practice

  • No new rules regarding visible taxes or fees will be introduced.
  • Current regulations for F-tax and tax controls remain unchanged.
  • Population registration and protection of personal data continue under existing laws.
  • Customs authorities retain their current powers and operational guidelines without expansion.
