During the autumn 2023 motion period, various opposition parties submitted proposals to strengthen human rights protections and environmental laws in Sweden.

The proposals covered important societal issues such as safeguarding freedom of speech, protecting minority groups, and introducing a legal ban on large-scale environmental destruction known as ecocide. The parliamentary committee reviewed these demands but ultimately recommended that parliament reject them all.
The Decision
The Swedish parliament voted to reject all of the opposition's proposals, pointing out that ongoing work is already addressing these issues.
