During the 2025 motion period, several proposals were submitted suggesting changes to how Sweden handles public holidays, flag days, and national commemorations. These proposals aimed to introduce new memorial days and honor specific historical figures and groups.

The Decision

The parliament chose to reject all 11 proposals, meaning that the current rules for public holidays and national commemorations remain exactly as they are today.
