Members of Parliament from the opposition parties often submit proposals to update the Swedish constitution to better reflect modern society or increase transparency in politics.

The proposals included drastic changes such as removing the monarchy and taking away the head of state's immunity from prosecution. Other suggestions focused on banning anonymous political donations and creating a national register for lobbyists to see who is influencing politics.

The Decision

The Swedish Parliament rejected all 83 proposals. This means that that none of the Swedish constitutional laws will be changed as suggested.
