Background & Purpose

The government needed to set the detailed financial framework and rules for student support for 2026, balancing funding between traditional student loans, transition support, and interest expenses while considering alternative proposals from the opposition.

The Swedish parliament approved the government's proposal to distribute approximately 35.8 billion SEK within the student support area and voted down all alternative proposals from the opposition.
